BIO
Jeremy Mikolajczak is a multi-disciplinary artist, curator, and sometimes writer based in Kansas City, Missouri. Mikolajczak's art practice attempts to portray the unreal nature of contemporary culture in an age of mass communication and mass consumption. While reflecting on the transitory comprehension of reality and the social veneer of society, he reinforces visual signs of culture and media through a perceived reality and recontextualization of familiar signs, symbols, and images. In addition to his studio practice, Mikolajczak has curated multiple solo and group exhibitions focusing on the importance of contemporary art practice within historical and cultural precedence. He has worked with many private, corporate, and museological collections, as well as numerous national and international artists. Mikolajczak is currently the Director and Chief Curator of the University of Central Missouri's Gallery of Art & Design located just outside Kansas City, MO.
